The development of the WiWi AP technology and the production of the equipment in Kulim by MIMOS are very important to support the broadband proliferation in this country. Producing it locally makes the equipment more affordable.
Quantum Intellicode is currently working on a way to further reduce the cost of broadband infrastructure by building a proof of concept of relay signals from WiWi AP to extend the broadband coverage. This technique will help to do away with the more labour and cost intensive installation of cables for connectivity. The relay technique is also easier to maintain. The company is currently testing the proof of concept at Ulu Jelebu, Negeri Sembilan.
This technology will play an important role to expedite the government’s National Broadband Initiative in expanding the broadband infrastructure reach.
Quantum Intellicode is also developing and testing a stand alone solar panel technology to power the MIMOS WiWi AP. When implemented, this technology would be able to replace electricity as source of power and eliminate the cost of electricity usage and laying out electricity infrastructure in remote locations.
Amazingly, under the current test, the WiWi AP was able to run on the solar power for as long as 24 hours without incurring any electricity bills.
Kampung WiFi is powered by MIMOS’ Technology Innovation Mi-WiWi.
