KUALA LUMPUR: The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (Mosti) has outlined four initiatives to be carried out in the next three months aimed at benefiting social enterprises, startups and the people.
This move, said Mosti, was not only to restore the economy but also to put the country on a global platform as a high-tech nation.
KUALA LUMPUR (June 9): Malaysia’s national applied research and development centre MIMOS has apppointed Sapura Energy Bhd president and chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin as its chairman effective from May 18, 2020.
In a statement, MIMOS which comes under the purview of the Ministry of Science, Technology and innovation (MOSTI), said Shahril succeeds Datuk Wira Omar Kaseh, who completed his three-year tenure.
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian industries need to invest more in sustainable solutions if they want to compete in the international market, says Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Ong Kian Ming.
Ong said this at a dinner hosted by national applied research and development centre Mimos, meant to mark its successful completion of a pilot project on sustainable palm oil traceability in collaboration with Procter & Gamble (P&G).
AT the recent International Conference on Industry 4.0 in Octobĕr, organised by SEGi University at its campus in Kota Damansara, Selangor, prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad stated that as we move the Industry 4.0 sector further, a conducive climate needs to be in place to encourage greater usage and spur innovative product development.
“Investments in the right education must continue to develop the right talent. Young and old generations must be ready to shift towards a knowledge-based economy,” Dr Mahathir added.
NATIONAL agendas such as the Shared Prosperity Vision 2030 and the Ministry of International Trade and Industry’s (Miti) National Policy on Industry 4.0 (Industry4WRD) are emphasising the use of emerging technologies to fast-track industry transformation in order to spur economic growth.
National applied research and development (R&D) centre Mimos Bhd has its eye set on changing the rules of the game in driving industry transformation through digital technology. The centre, which employs just below 800 talents, has filed more than 1,200 patents over the years, with around one quarter already commercialised.
