“Revitalising the Agricultural Sector in Malaysia translates into a greater mission to provide food security through optimisation of resources in a sustainable manner, while generating economic opportunities for farming communities. MIMOS and its Sensor Technologies support this mission by helping farmers enhance their productivity and efficiency.”
 - Talib Abd Rahman, Project Manager PA Development, Mutiara.com Sdn Bhd

Mutiara.Com has been working closely with MIMOS for nearly four years and is currently doing testing for the deployment of Sensor Technology (PAMS– Precision Agriculture Management System and WSN – Wireless Sensor Network) at the simulation site in Bumbung Lima, Kepala Batas.   The advanced technology powered by MIMOS, is a sustainable solution to not only reduce wastage of resources but to produce MORE from LESS i.e. optimisation for enhanced productivity.

The facility at Bumbung Lima has been chosen to conduct User Acceptance Test of the Wireless Sensor Network System and PAMS, with more than 2,500 chilly plants being monitored.  The technology helps to measure the temperature and humidity of the environment, the soil moisture, temperature etc. to allow the supply of the right amount of water, compost and fertilisers at the right time.  The resources are distributed automatically by the system through Wireless Sensor Technology based on such information collected. Such automated systems help to reduce wastage by 10% and enhanced production by 20%, with an assurance of quality and safety.

MIMOS Technology is also very efficient from the sustainability perspective, as the information which is collected by the system during its deployment can be stored and used as a learning tool by more and more farming communities. This would further help to improve efficiencies and the overall growth of the sector.

By the year 2013, MIMOS will enter into collaborations with approximately 100 farmers and producers to deploy sensor technology which will positively transform the way we grow food, breed and manage cattle, and sustain farming activities.

While Malaysia aspires to become a net exporter of Agricultural Products at the same time ensure food safety, security and sovereignty; there is a need for the sector to adopt new technologies which will help manage resources to the optimum, with less wastage and negligible environmental impact. The future of Agriculture is critical for sustenance of the developing and Malaysia, with its Technology Excellence, can emerge as the food bowl of Asia. MIMOS will continue to evolve as the new Leader in Frontier Technologies, securing our Life Support Systems in the future.
