MIMOS focuses on driving globally recognized Centres of Excellence to promote and/or license MIMOS technologies or Intellectual Properties (IPs) to qualified indigenous ICT companies to strengthen their abilities to compete globally and move Malaysian ICT industry higher up the value chain.
CoEs are physical labs or office located at universities. The goal is to transform all current joint R&D labs at various local universities into CoEs to support all the National Economic Corridors – Sabah Development Corridor (SDC), Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE), Northern Corridor Economic Region (NCER), East Coast Economic Region (ECER) and Johor’s Iskandar Malaysia.
CoEs with Industries are set up in collaboration with multinational companies to share their expertise and experience with local players to increase Malaysia’s IT industry competitiveness and ensure local companies are at a level playing field with their foreign counterparts.
The MIMOS CoEs are a testbed for all parties to conduct application development, experiments and interoperability tests.
