Together, the members serve to guide the MIMOS Leadership in driving the organisation in the best interest of the stakeholders; and in adding value to the organisation by continuing to improve its R&D and commercialisation programme.

Dr. Iskandar Samad

President & Chief Executive Officer

Dr Iskandar brings with him a wealth of experience from diverse industries including telecommunications, digital media and financial services. He started his career with McKinsey & Company as a management consultant, serving notable corporate clients across Southeast Asia and Australia.

Over the course of his career, Dr Iskandar has held several leadership roles including CEO of Jewel Digital Ventures Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Permodalan Nasional Berhad; Astro Malaysia Holdings-OTT (over-the-top); and Astro’s Tribe (Hong Kong) Limited. He also held positions as Vice President at OTT-MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operators) and Vice President of Special Projects at Axiata Berhad.

Dr Iskandar holds a first-class Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Sciences, along with a PhD Degree in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom.

Faisal Ahmad

CEO, MIMOS Technology Solutions Sdn. Bhd.

Faisal Ahmad obtained his Bachelor of Science (BSc) Degree in Electrical Engineering from State University of New York, Buffalo in 1994. In November 2006, he joined MIMOS BERHAD and quickly rose through the rank to his current role as Chief Executive Officer of MIMOS Technology Solutions Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as Frontier Novatur Sdn. Bhd.), a wholly-owned subsidiary and commercial arm of MIMOS.

He led the commercialization team, which comprised personnel in various disciplines, since its establishment, before assuming the CEO position in February 2016.
Prior to MIMOS BERHAD, he spent more than 13 years in the telecommunication industry, working in various capacities at Motorola, Ericsson, Siemens and local Companies. He served several roles in engineering as well as commercial discipline, ranging from Product Management, Technical Consultant, Solution Consultant and Product Marketing.
Leading the commercialization activities of MIMOS’ subsidiary, Faisal has secured more than 100 ICT Solutions and High Impact Projects at National level valued around RM430 million, with mixtures of more than 100 different types of MIMOS technology platforms and IPs.

Wan Azli Wan Ismail

General Manager, MIMOS Semiconductor (M), Sdn. Bhd.

Wan Azli is a professional Senior Executive Leader with 27 years of experience in multiple high technology multinational companies as well as served in government-related Research and Development (R&D) agency and its subsidiary with P&L responsibility (Operations Management, Business Development, Human Resources and financial sustainability).

He has clocked 17 years of working experience in multinational manufacturing operations such as with Texas Instruments(M) Sdn Berhad and Freescale Semiconductor Malaysia Sdn Bhd spanning from Product Engineering, Process Engineering, Quality Engineering and New Operations Transfer and Start-ups.

Some 10 years of his working experience in the government were related to socio-economic development programmes through active participation and engagements with stakeholder ministries (Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Ministry of Higher Education and Economic Planning Unit) as well as with government R&D facilitators and other agencies to support the development and betterment of local industries capabilities.

Wan Azli’s responsibilities included various leadership and operational aspects of Business Development and Strategic Alliances, Operations Excellence and Program Executions, Government Engagements and R&D Grant Initiations, Quality and Value Chain Managements and Strategic Engagements and Partnerships with industries and relevant agencies.
A strong believer in a win-win solutions, he is currently involved in industry development and engagements by promoting Government-Industry-Academia cooperation's in technology development, talent and skills improvement, and ecosystem enablers enhancement.
