Job Purpose
- Quality engineer is a key member of the semiconductor manufacturing team responsible for ensuring the highest level of quality and reliability in semiconductor wafer fabrication processes. This role involves extensive experience in quality control, process improvement, and a deep understanding of semiconductor manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management System (QMS):
- Support the implementation and upkeep of the Quality Management System (QMS) in line with relevant standards.
- Assist in preparing documentation and records for internal and external quality audits.
- Participate in QMS internal audit activities under supervision.
2. Quality Control and Assurance:
- Assist in executing quality control procedures to monitor product and process conformance.
- Perform basic inspections and tests to detect defects or deviations, and escalate findings for review.
3. Incoming Inspection
- Conduct visual and measurement-based inspections of incoming materials based on defined criteria.
- Record and report inspection results accurately for further action or evaluation.
4. Final Product Inspection
- Carry out inspection of finished wafers and components to ensure they meet customer and quality requirements.
- Document findings and report any non-conformities to senior engineers or supervisors.
5. Supplier Quality Management
- Assist in tracking the quality of incoming materials from suppliers.
- Participate in supplier-related quality reviews as needed.
6. Process Improvement
- Monitor basic production parameters and support data collection for yield and defect analysis.
- Participate in process improvement activities under guidance.
7. Root Cause Analysis
- Assist in gathering data and documenting quality issues.
- Support root cause analysis efforts and implementation of corrective actions using methods such as 5 Whys or 8D.
8. Data Analysis and Reporting
- Utilize advanced data analysis tools and methodologies to track and improve quality metrics, including yield, defect rate, and reliability.
- Prepare and present quality reports to management and relevant stakeholders.
9. Documentation
- Maintain accurate documentation of inspection results, quality issues, and process checklists in accordance with procedures.
10. Training and Mentoring
- Participate in training sessions related to quality standards, inspection techniques, and semiconductor processes.
- Collaborate with senior engineers and technicians to gain hands-on experience and technical knowledge.
11. Health, Safety and Environment
- Follow MIMOS HSE guidelines including safe handling of materials and minimizing waste.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or potential hazards.

Qualification
- Possess Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Material Science, Physics or related academic background.

Technical Skills
- Printed flexible electronics technology and fabrication
- Inkjet printing systems, dispenser coating, and surface treatment processes
- Sensor integration, interconnect design, and circuit printing
- Soldering and Photonic curing, UV/NIR processes, and substrate compatibility
- Strong understanding of materials–process–device relationships
- Electrical testing, adhesion analysis, and reliability evaluation
- Electrical characterisation techniques
- Lab operations and process equipment handling
- Technology licensing
