MIMOS TECHNOLOGY PREVIEW 2025 MARKS 40 YEARS OF INNOVATION DRIVING MALAYSIA’S TECH FUTURE

PUTRAJAYA, 2 October 2025 – Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), YB Dato’ Haji Mohammad Yusof bin Apdal, today launched the MIMOS Technology Preview (MTP) 2025 at the IOI Grand Exhibition & Convention Centre, IOI City Mall, Putrajaya.

This year’s MTP is significant as it coincides with MIMOS’ 40th Anniversary, marking four decades of relentless innovation, resilience, and nation-building. Organised annually, the MTP showcases cutting-edge technologies developed through MIMOS’ applied R&D, offering industry-ready solutions while creating a platform for collaboration between government, industry, academia, and civil society.

More than 25 New Market-Ready Innovations

At MTP 2025, MIMOS is unveiling more than 25 newly developed technologies, demonstrating Malaysia’s ability to move beyond ideas and deliver tangible solutions that address real-world challenges. These innovations span:

  • Semiconductors & Advanced Electronics: accelerating Malaysia’s role in the global E&E value chain.
  • Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, and Quantum Technologies: future-proofing the digital economy.
  • Cybersecurity: safeguarding national digital sovereignty.
  • Green & Decarbonisation Solutions: supporting the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).
  • Healthcare & Smart Manufacturing: boosting efficiency, productivity, and societal well-being.

Among the highlights are the Mi-ACE energy-efficient chiller system, Graphene Ink for sustainable E&E applications, indoor tracking systems (ITS), and REVA In-Situ non-invasive vital sign analyser, many of which are already progressing towards market deployment.

Strengthening Partnerships Through Quadruple Helix

True to its theme ‘Power Up Your Business with Market-Ready Tech and Unrivalled Partnership’, MTP 2025 also witnessed several document exchange ceremonies formalising collaborations with partners. These initiatives embody the Quadruple Helix model, bringing together government, industry, academia, and civil society to accelerate innovation, investment, and national growth.

Appointment of MIMOS Industry Advocacy Group (IAG) Fellows

A special highlight of this year’s event is the celebration of the appointment of MIMOS Industry Advocacy Group (IAG) Fellows. This Fellowship is both a recognition of the standing of Malaysia’s foremost industry and academic leaders and an invitation to shape the nation’s technology trajectory.

As Tier-1 Fellows, their voices will help frame national priorities, inspire new collaborations, and guide policies that impact industries, communities, and the lives of Malaysians. Together, these Fellows and MIMOS will ensure that Malaysia’s technology and innovation journey is guided by wisdom, anchored by national priorities, and propelled by global ambition.

Driving Malaysia’s Digital & Innovation Agenda

MTP 2025 aligns closely with Malaysia’s key national agendas, including the National Semiconductor Strategy (NSS), the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP), the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), and the Malaysia Plans (RMK-12 & RMK-13).

Speaking at the launch, YB Dato’ Haji Mohammad Yusof said, “MTP 2025 is not just a showcase but a catalyst for collaboration. By bringing together innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and policymakers, we are forging impactful partnerships that will drive Malaysia’s next leap in science, technology, and innovation.”

MIMOS Chairperson, Dr Jasmine Begum, added, “As we celebrate 40 years of MIMOS, we reaffirm our commitment to power industries, shape new markets, and co-create the future together. Malaysian innovation is real, scalable, and globally competitive.”

As Malaysia’s national applied R&D centre, MIMOS remains steadfast in its commitment to driving the nation’s technology industry forward. By leading innovation in cutting-edge technologies and fostering strong partnerships across government, industry, and academia, MIMOS will continue to translate research into impactful solutions that strengthen national competitiveness, empower local talent, and position Malaysia as a global leader in innovation.
