MIMOS Showcased Pioneering Research at the 10th IEEE EDTM Conference 2026

MIMOS participated in the landmark 10th IEEE Electron Devices Technology and Manufacturing (EDTM) Conference 2026, held at the Setia SPICE Convention Centre in Penang. As a Silver Sponsor of this milestone event, which marked a decade of global collaboration, MIMOS reinforced its role as a central force in Malaysia’s R&D landscape. The conference brought together researchers, technologists, and industry leaders from around the world to exchange insights on emerging semiconductor technologies and advanced manufacturing capabilities.

Throughout the event, MIMOS actively contributed through technical presentations, industry engagement, and strategic ecosystem discussions. From 1–4 March, MIMOS participated as a booth exhibitor, showcasing its research capabilities, technological achievements, and services within the semiconductor and advanced electronics sectors. The booth served as a platform to engage with industry players, researchers, and international delegates, while highlighting MIMOS’ role in strengthening Malaysia’s semiconductor innovation ecosystem.

On 3 March, MIMOS researchers presented technical papers at the conference, demonstrating advancements in both semiconductor systems and emerging computational technologies. Bayhaqi Mohd Jailani, Associate Researcher, presented a paper titled ‘24 GHz mm Wave Radar System for Non-Intrusive Occupancy Detection,’ highlighting the development of radar-based sensing technologies for smart environments. Meanwhile, Nadwiyah Mohamed Ridza, Researcher, presented ‘Simulation Driven Performance Evaluation of Classical and Quantum Anomaly Detection Models under Fixed False Positive Constraints,’ showcasing comparative research between classical and quantum approaches in anomaly detection. These presentations reflected MIMOS’ growing involvement in multidisciplinary technologies spanning electronics, artificial intelligence, and quantum computing.

A key highlight of MIMOS’ participation was the Industry Interest Group (IIG) Tier-2 Workshop for the Electrical & Electronics (E&E) sector, titled ‘MIMOS Moving Forward in Semiconductor & Manufacturing Capabilities,’ held on 4 March 2026. Organised by the Corporate Planning & Strategy (CPS) division, the closed-door session gathered approximately 40 participants from industry, government ministries and agencies, associations, and academia. The session provided a platform for stakeholders across the quadruple helix ecosystem to discuss current challenges, identify opportunities, and explore collaborative pathways to strengthen Malaysia’s semiconductor capabilities under the E&E Technology Focus Area (TFA) moving forward plan.

The engagement continued on 5 March 2026, when an EDTM international delegation visited MIMOS’ Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP) facility. The visit provided international participants with first-hand exposure to MIMOS’ research infrastructure and semiconductor-related initiatives, further strengthening international collaboration and positioning Malaysia as an active contributor to the global semiconductor innovation landscape.

Through its participation in IEEE EDTM 2026, MIMOS reaffirmed its commitment to advancing semiconductor research, fostering industry collaboration, and supporting the development of a resilient and competitive semiconductor ecosystem for Malaysia.
