MIMOS welcomed a high-level semiconductor delegation led by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) for a strategic engagement on 2 March 2026. This visit served as a foundational step in exploring how Malaysia’s semiconductor policies and five-year objectives align with UK priorities. Both parties utilised the session to exchange insights on innovation-funding mechanisms and identify successful models for international partnerships. These discussions highlighted emerging trends and growth areas, pinpointing specific opportunities where collaborative efforts can flourish in the near future.
The insights gathered during this visit provided Innovate UK with a comprehensive framework to assess Malaysia’s potential as a long-term strategic partner. This evaluation carries significant weight for the future direction of international funding programmes, including the Global Business Innovation Programme (GBIP) and the Global Expert Missions Programme (GEM). The engagement successfully positioned MIMOS as a central figure in this bilateral dialogue, ensuring that Malaysian research and development remain at the forefront of the UK’s global innovation strategy.
