KUALA LUMPUR, 21 JULY 2025 – YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, Malaysia’s Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation, today officiated the launch of the Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure during the opening of Malaysia Blockchain Week 2025.
Developed by MIMOS Berhad, an agency under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), in collaboration with its strategic partners, the Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure is a platform designed to support innovative blockchain services across sectors, in line with the Government’s digital asset strategy and the National Blockchain Roadmap 2021 – 2025.
“MOSTI is committed to working closely with the Ministry of Digital to expand the use of blockchain technology across the country’s key sectors. From enhancing transparency and data security in government administration systems, strengthening halal certification processes, to improving efficiency in trade and supply chains, our goal is to ensure that blockchain technology is applied in a practical and impactful way to support national development and deliver tangible benefits to the people,” said YB Tuan Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure aims to unify the fragmented blockchain ecosystem by enabling interoperability between public platforms and private chains through a standardised system. This platform simplifies the use of blockchain technology for non-technical users and promotes inclusivity through verifiable credentials (such as MyDigital ID), non-fungible tokens (NFTs), decentralised finance (DeFi) applications, and more. Early adopters will begin implementing blockchain-based solutions in areas such as digital identity, asset tokenisation, and supply chain verification.
The Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure also supports secure, transparent, and efficient cross-chain transactions. With shared access and a simplified system, the platform promotes fast and cost-effective digital innovation. This reflects the MADANI Government’s commitment to ensuring that the benefits of technology are shared equitably, in support of sustainable digital progress.
As the national applied research and development centre, MIMOS plays a key role in driving the adoption of blockchain technology. The Malaysia Blockchain Infrastructure aims to address the challenges of a fragmented ecosystem by unifying diverse platforms.
All stakeholders, industry players, researchers, and policymakers must continue to uphold a strong collaborative spirit in realising this initiative. Close cooperation between the public and private sectors is key for Malaysia in developing an inclusive, sustainable, and resilient blockchain ecosystem at the regional level.
