Promoting business opportunities in healthcare technology

The Fourth Industrial Revolution has triggered higher demand for technology development in the healthcare sector to enhance patient care and improve public health. Some of the medical technologies that brought positive change in both health professionals and patients include digitalised patient records, health data warehousing, systems for food safety, personal healthcare gadgets and medical apps.

Those were among topics discussed at the Innovation Forum Kuala Lumpur (IFKL): Entrepreneurship in Healthcare held at Universiti Malaya (UM) on Sept 21 and 22. Organised by UM’s Faculty of Medicine in association with the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Business and Accountancy and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences; the two-day forum highlighted topics on innovation, technology and evolution in the healthcare industry.

The event was aimed at bringing together healthcare stakeholders including clinicians, industry experts, regulatory bodies and innovators to deliberate and potentially develop viable technology solutions.

Officiated by Health Director-General Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, the forum featured presentations, workshops and sharing sessions by prominent speakers representing various backgrounds. MIMOS chief executive officer Ahmad Rizan Ibrahim delivered a keynote presentation on ‘Digital Health Industry as the New Tech Revolution”.
