Official Visit of The Prime Minister to MIMOS Berhad

MIMOS led by YB Chang Lih Kang, the Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) welcomed Malaysia’s Prime Minister, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, for an official visit to MIMOS Berhad on 21 November 2023.

The visit was also attended by YB Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Bin Ismail, the Home Affairs Minister, YB Dr Zaliha Binti Mustafa, the Health Minister, and YM Tengku Datuk Dr Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen, the founder of MIMOS and President of the Science Academy of Malaysia (ASM), who also serves as Malaysia’s Adviser on Science, Technology, and Innovation.

MIMOS Empowering Malaysia’s High-Tech Future

The official visit aimed to give the Prime Minister a first-hand look at MIMOS’ extensive potential as the National Applied Research and Development (R&D) Centre under the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) in aiding the government’s vision for a cutting-edge, globally competitive Malaysia under MADANI Malaysia.

The visit showcased MIMOS’ pivotal role in empowering Malaysia’s technology industry, driving Malaysia’s high-tech aspirations and its historical significance since 1985.

The briefing illuminated how MIMOS has been a cornerstone in propelling Malaysia’s technology future, fostering innovation, and driving socio-economic progress through its patent-worthy platforms, products, and solutions.

During his engaging address to MIMOS Management and staff, YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim commended MIMOS’ research and collaborative efforts which align with the goals outlined in the ‘MALAYSIA MADANI’ economic framework, Digital Economy, the New Industrial Master Plan (NIMP) 2030, and the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

YAB Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim expressed confidence in MIMOS’ focus on Semiconductors, Advanced Electronics & Embedded Systems, and other Strategic ICT technology especially those related to Smart Nation by ensuring the country’s technology security and sovereignty which would accelerate Malaysia’s tech industry progress.

He also lauded MIMOS’ cutting-edge facilities for supporting industry players, and researchers and fostering future talents in technology.

YAB Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim also entrusted MIMOS Berhad with spearheading the ambitious National ID project, signalling a monumental leap towards technological advancement.
