BUKIT JALIL, 25 February 2025 – YABhg. Dato’ Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Dr. Wan Ismail officially launched the MIMOS Junior Academy (MJA)(Tadika MIMOS) at MIMOS Berhad, Bukit Jalil.
As part of its rebranding initiative, MIMOS Junior Academy (MJA) has adopted a new curriculum rooted in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). This curriculum is specially designed to offer a comprehensive, dynamic, and innovative learning experience, fostering an early interest in STEM among young learners.
MJA collaborates with the National Child Development Research Centre (NCDRC) and Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) to ensure the implementation of an effective, innovative, and comprehensive STEM curriculum. As an early education centre, MJA is committed to nurturing young minds to be creative, critical thinkers, and digitally literate. Its STEM-based curriculum aligns with the national aspiration to boost STEM literacy from the early stages of education.
The MJA teaching approaches include:
- Inquiry-Based Learning: Encouraging curiosity through questions and experiments.
- Play-Based Learning: Using play to develop cognitive and motor skills.
- Project-Based Learning (PBL): Solving real-world challenges through long-term projects.
- STEM Integration: Embedding STEM principles into the curriculum.
- Experiential Learning: Hands-on experiences like field trips and experiments.
- Technology-Enhanced Learning (TEL): Leveraging modern tools for a tech-driven future.
YBhg. Datuk Ts. Dr. Haji Aminuddin highlighted that STEM education is a critical focus for MOSTI, supporting initiatives that integrate STEM learning into preschool education through interactive activities, simple experiments, and hands-on exploration. “STEM education is essential in building a future-ready workforce. MOSTI encourages more students to pursue STEM to address skill gaps and ensure Malaysia’s global competitiveness.”
