MIMOSians came together for an engaging AI Apps Review Session, led by the insightful Dr Lau Phooi Yee, Senior Staff Researcher and Qamarul Aiman, Associate Researcher. The session explored how AI is transforming the modern workplace, boosting efficiency, creativity, and collaboration across diverse roles.
The first segment of the session outlined six key areas where AI is making a significant impact, like conversational assistants, productivity tools, creative applications, educational resources, business solutions, and video editing platforms.
Dr Lau showcased a wide variety of AI tools tailored to different professional needs, including:
- Business Functions: ClickUp, Missive, and Supernormal for summarising updates and preparing status reports.
- Corporate Communications & Media: CapCut, InShot, Captions, and Zeemo for producing compelling multimedia content.
- Technical & R&D: Tools like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Notion AI, Humata, Microsoft 365 Copilot, and QuillBot to support idea generation, summarisation, data analysis, and citation-enabled conversational search.
- Administration & Governance: Otter.ai for transcription, Motion for tasks and time management, and Grammarly for writing assistance.
MIMOSians developed a firm understanding of how these tools can improve their day-to-day tasks. The session also encouraged them to adopt these technologies with confidence, setting the stage for more intelligent and innovative work practices.
