MIMOS partnered with the Penang state government to launch an innovative ‘Track and Trace’ system for Penang durians, effective 1 June 2025. This initiative leverages MIMOS Mi-Trace, an intelligent traceability platform designed to provide end-to-end visibility for products from manufacturer to retailer. The system’s core purpose is to combat fraud and misrepresentation, ensuring consumers receive authentic Penang produce. By scanning a QR code on each durian, consumers can access verifiable information about its origin and certification, effectively tracing its journey from the farm to the point of sale.
This groundbreaking application of Mi-Trace in Penang, the first of its kind for durians in Malaysia, connects consumers, authorities, and product owners to create a transparent information loop. Adhering to the globally recognised GS1 standard, the platform offers features like real-time tracking, anomaly alerts, and certificate verification, enhancing consumer trust and protecting producers in both domestic and international markets, including China and Singapore.
Beyond durians, Mi-Trace’s versatility has seen it applied in diverse sectors such as sustainable agriculture, premium food export, and vaccine management for the Ministry of Health Malaysia, showcasing its potential to boost industry integrity and operational efficiency.
