On 21 May 2025, a significant tripartite collaboration was formalised at LIMA in Langkawi, bringing together MIMOS Berhad (Malaysia), HAVELSAN (Türkiye), and TechInsight Sdn. Bhd. (Malaysia). This agreement, building on an earlier MoU from February this year, is set to rapidly develop a national ecosystem for localised foundational Artificial Intelligence (AI). The core objective is to establish a comprehensive AI framework that integrates robust infrastructure, advanced AI model development, and effective market engagement strategies, all designed to accelerate the adoption of AI specifically tailored to Malaysia’s unique needs. This initiative includes clear Go-To-Market (GTM) strategies to ensure widespread and impactful integration of AI solutions.
This strategic partnership is critical for fostering homegrown AI technologies, which will safeguard Malaysia’s national data sovereignty and protect its rich multilingual and multicultural heritage. By localising foundational AI models, Malaysia aims to prevent cultural and cognitive biases from foreign technologies, ensure competitively priced solutions, reduce reliance on international platforms, and retain wealth within the national economy. The collaboration leverages MIMOS’ expertise in sovereign AI infrastructure, HAVELSAN’s core AI technologies and secure infrastructure, and TechInsight’s role as the Go-To-Market partner and architect, focusing on hyper-localised, culturally attuned, scalable, secure, and economically sustainable AI solutions aligned with Malaysia’s Digital Nation aspiration and MADANI vision.
