Part II
In the heart of Malaysia’s technological awakening, a quiet but resolute force is propelling one of the country’s most important institutions forward. Meet Puan Nurezmy A. Majid, the Chief of Staff and Head of the MIMOS Board of Directors and CEO Office, a woman whose leadership is weaving ambition, discipline, and heart into the very fabric of MIMOS Berhad’s rebirth.
MIMOS, once teetering on the edge of obscurity and financial collapse, is today rediscovering its place in Malaysia’s digital future. And at the centre of this transformation is a woman who sees her role not as a title, but as a calling.
It All Begins with a Dream, and Lives Through Discipline
“The Prime Minister dreams of a digitally sovereign, competitive Malaysia. The BOD shapes this into policy. The CEO executes it with precision. My role is to ensure the rhythm between all of them is seamless,” Nurezmy begins, her voice carrying both conviction and care.
In her dual role, Nurezmy operates as a strategist, integrator, and crisis navigator. Every government mandate, every board policy, every CEO directive, from digital ID interoperability to AI sovereignty, passes through her hands, sharpened by careful planning and unwavering discipline.
“We are the bridge, the integrator, and sometimes the shock absorber,” she says, smiling knowingly.

Reviving a Legacy: The Hard, Honest Truth
Stepping into her role, Nurezmy faced an unsettling reality. MIMOS was nearing bankruptcy, its morale crushed, and its relevance fading.
“The truth? We were close to collapse. Morale was low, and our national trust was eroding fast,” she admits.
Yet giving up was never an option. With a heart full of determination, she chose revival over resignation.
The strategy was direct, if unforgiving. Stop non-performing projects, consolidate resources, laser-focus on national priorities, and aggressively commercialise R&D.
“We knew it would be brutal, but necessary,” she reflects.
Coordination That Never Sleeps
Every day Nurezmy juggles a flurry of board meetings, crisis rooms, government briefings, and budget forecasts. “I don’t manage a department. I manage the pulse of MIMOS,” she says candidly.
At every juncture, she ensures the policies are translated into performance and that every hand steering the ship rows in unison.
Investor engagements, inter-ministry negotiations, stakeholder diplomacy, the machinery of MIMOS’ comeback is fuelled by her invisible yet indomitable hand.
Challenges Faced, Opportunities Unlocked
Resistance, confusion, even internal sabotage – Nurezmy faced it all.
“But leadership,” she says firmly, “is not about being liked. It’s about being clear.”
She established war rooms, created visible KPIs, and rebuilt a culture of performance and pride. Today, MIMOS enjoys positive cash flow, secured revenue streams, and newfound national trust in critical sectors like AI, cybersecurity, and semiconductors.
“We’re not just surviving. We’re building sustainability,” she says with quiet triumph.
The Heart That Keeps Beating
Asked what drives her in such a demanding role, her voice softens, “Because I believe in this country. Because I believe MIMOS is worth saving, as a symbol of Malaysia’s resilience in science and technology.”
Eyes shining, she concludes, “Every time we achieve a breakthrough, every time our people believe again, it reminds me why we fight so hard.”
A Final Message
“Malaysia doesn’t lack talent or dreams. We just need unity, discipline, and courage. MIMOS is showing the nation that transformation is possible when strategy meets soul.”
Indeed, with Nurezmy A. Majid anchoring its spirit, MIMOS is not merely moving forward; it is inspiring an entire nation to dream bigger, work harder, and believe deeper.
