Global Collaboration Drives Big Data & AI Capacity Building in Kuala Lumpur

A global collaboration came to life as MIMOS Berhad hosted the ISTIC–UNESCO/MIMOS International Training Workshop on Big Data and Artificial Intelligence from 25 to 28 August 2025. This four-day event was a beacon for local and international industry leaders, academics, and professionals, all gathered to explore the pivotal role of Big Data and AI in economic development. The workshop aimed to guide nations on a transformative journey from low-end manufacturing to high-tech industries.

Organised in partnership with ISTIC, UNESCO, and IKCEST, the workshop was a dynamic platform designed to advance knowledge, foster innovation, and build a collective capacity among professionals from Malaysia and neighbouring countries, with an ultimate goal to shape a more sustainable future through technology. The programme was comprehensive, featuring a lively exchange of knowledge, practical skill enhancement, invaluable networking sessions, and technical visits to MIMOS’ cutting-edge R&D facilities. These visits powerfully demonstrated MIMOS’ role as a leading hub for Big Data and AI innovation.

The workshop featured an impressive line-up of distinguished speakers, including:

  • Professor Tian Feng and Professor Chen Ling from Xi’an Jiaotong University
  • Dr Mohd Ismifaizul Mohd Ismail, Muhammad Hafiz Laili, Dr Lau Phooi Yee, and Zalhan Md Yusof from MIMOS Berhad
