MIMOS Accelerates National AI Literacy Mission at National Science Week 2026 Launch

MIMOS advanced Malaysia’s digital future by participating in the official launch of Minggu Sains Negara (National Science Week) 2026 and the concurrent MOSTI Tech Talk. Held on 14 April 2026 at the University of Nottingham Malaysia, the flagship national programme ran under the timely theme of Artificial Intelligence (AI). YB Datuk Chang Lih Kang, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), officiated the high-profile event, which brought together over 240 participants, including ministry officials, industry leaders, educators, and students. The launch successfully set in motion a nationwide mission to strengthen public engagement in STEM and enhance AI literacy, directly supporting the National Policy on Science, Technology and Innovation (DSTIN) 2021-2030.

A major highlight of the day was MIMOS sharing the stage with MOSTI Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang at the MOSTI Tech Talk session. This collaborative platform served as a powerful catalyst for ideas and innovation, with industry experts discussing the development of future-ready talent and human-centric technological advances. Throughout the panel, speakers emphasised the need to transition Malaysia from a consumer of emerging technologies to a pioneer in AI and data science, ensuring the nation’s innovation trajectory remains competitive, inclusive, and globally relevant.

The launch also celebrated the introduction of the university’s new STEAM-AI Impact Centre, an interdisciplinary hub designed to bridge the digital divide by bringing inclusive AI education to both urban and rural communities. Attendees experienced a vibrant showcase of tomorrow’s technology, witnessing everything from AI-powered humanoids to real-world machine learning simulations. MIMOS reinforced its role as a key driver in democratising technology by contributing strategic insights to the Tech Talk dialogue, ultimately boosting national competitiveness and preparing the next generation to tackle the challenges of the next quarter-century.
