Job Purpose
The Manager is responsible for managing and governing the technology portfolio of MIMOS R&D outputs to increase the success rate of industry adoption and commercialization, ensuring alignment with the organization’s R&D, Commercialization & Innovation (R&D&C&I) framework and strategic goals. The role also support laboratories in positioning their solutions with a stronger commercialisation narrative, including developing compelling, market-oriented presentations to secure funding.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understanding of market requirement in the related technology area, one of the key organization’s industry focus areas.
- Benchmarking research outputs & intended solutions against the status of advancement of the technologies and products in the market for gap analysis and market positioning.
- Support laboratories in positioning their solutions with a stronger commercialization narrative, including developing compelling, market-oriented presentations to secure funding.
- Capturing requirements of technology solutions by industry/potential recipients for such tech/products and documenting them according to organization processes & procedures..
- Contributing to the development of technology roadmap that guides direction of the related R&D in the organization.
- Managing and maintaining related technology portfolio of the organization for strategic planning and sustainability.
- The job requires close work relationship with researchers, engineers & developer teams in R&D, business development and commercialization teams, and external partners/collaborators and industry players to ensure alignment of technology development with market needs.
Accountability
1. Technology Portfolio Management
- Identify and match market and technology requirements for assigned R&D projects based on market potential and strategic fit.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive technology portfolio documentation, including tracking technology development progress and performance.
- Conduct regular portfolio reviews to evaluate portfolio health and recommend adjustments in line with the organization’s business and commercialization plans.
2. Technology Commercialization
- Support the Business Development team in identifying commercialization opportunities for R&D outputs through stakeholder engagement activities.
- Coordinate R&D outputs to meet agreed customer requirements, including technical specifications, readiness, and timelines for technology transfer and commercialization.
- Document customer requirements and coordinate the approval process for technologies with identified technology recipients.
3. Market Analysis and Competitive Intelligence
- Conduct and review market analysis, market requirements, and competitive landscape assessments for assigned R&D projects.
- Develop market requirement documents to support technology commercialization.
- Monitor industry trends, market developments, and regulatory changes that may impact the organization’s technology portfolio.
4. Collaboration and Stakeholder Management
- Participate in engagements with R&D and Business Development teams to ensure strategic alignment.
- Establish and maintain networks with industry partners, investors, government agencies, and other stakeholders to facilitate technology transfer and commercialization.
- Serve as the Person-in-Charge (PIC) for the organization’s product portfolio and provide information for internal and external communications.
5. Portfolio Data Management
- Maintain technology portfolio data, project records, and progress updates to support technology lifecycle monitoring and reporting.
Qualification
- Possess Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Science, Technology Management, Marketing or Business, or any other related academic background

Work Experience
- At least 5 to 10 years experiences.
- Experienced in R&D, Information technology, Manufacturing, Sales or Marketing, and Software Development and Computing areas.
Technical Skills
- Have strategic planning skill with the ability to contribute to the drafting of technology portfolio map, prioritization and strategic plans to guide research proposals.
- Understand technical and engineering in the area of ICT (software, computing, communication tech.) for technical writing related to projects, requirement documentations and proposal materials.
- Strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive analysis, and emerging technologies in the ICT or E&E sectors and related fields.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management processes, including ideation, development, commercialization, and end-of-life management.
- Good to excellent project management skills, with the ability to prioritize initiatives, manage internal and external stakeholders, and drive cross-functional teams towards common goals.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and drive consensus.
