In a new GovInsider feature, MIMOS Berhad’s Group Chief Technology Officer, Dr Zulaikha Kadim, shares how MIMOS is helping translate Malaysia’s AI ambitions into practical technologies that address the needs of government, industry and the public.
As Malaysia advances its National AI Action Plan 2026–2030, MIMOS plays a key role in bridging the gap between research, technology development and real-world adoption. This includes bringing together government, industry and academia to move emerging technologies beyond proof-of-concept towards solutions that can operate effectively within institutional environments.
The article highlights several areas of MIMOS’ work, including Mi-MUALLIM, an AI-powered solution developed with the Ministry of Home Affairs to support Quranic content verification, as well as the development of an AI-powered deepfake detection engine for news and media fact-checking.
Beyond technology development, MIMOS is also strengthening the ecosystem needed for successful adoption through talent development, technology readiness and real-environment testing. Through MIMOS Academy, agencies and ministries receive upskilling in areas including AI, semiconductors and quantum technologies, while initiatives such as MIMOS Junior Academy introduce younger generations to STEM through practical applications.
The feature emphasises MIMOS’ approach of developing and testing technologies around specific operational needs, ensuring that innovations are not only technically viable, but also relevant, usable and ready for wider deployment.
