Between June and September 2026, MIMOS executed a targeted series of high-level engagements designed to reinforce its role as Malaysia’s national applied research and development centre.
The initiative opened on 11 June 2026 with a visit from YB Tuan Ng Sze Han, Selangor State EXCO for Investment, Trade & Mobility, followed by a working visit on 29 June 2026 by MOSTI Secretary-General, YBhg. Dato’ Ts. Dr Nagulendran Kangayatkarasu. These sessions featured comprehensive laboratory tours and strategic briefings that aligned MIMOS’ proprietary R&D progress directly with state investment goals and national policy objectives.
On 29 July 2026, MIMOS further deepened institutional ties during a courtesy visit to the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) President, YM Academician Datuk Dr Tengku Mohd Azzman Shariffadeen, exploring joint participation in national Mission-Oriented Initiatives. Simultaneously, MIMOS accelerated efforts to bridge advanced technology with private sector expertise, venture capital, and commercial adoption. On 30 June 2026, MIMOS hosted Telekom Malaysia Research & Development (TMR&D) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Sharlene Thiagarajah, to discuss joint pathways in artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and cloud infrastructure. Subsequent meetings with Maybank Executive Vice President, Dato’ Ahmad Farid Qoureshmi, on 19 August 2026, and MME Chairman, Dato’ Mustapha bin Ahmad, on 24 August 2026 highlighted cross-industry applications for MIMOS’ Semiconductor Technology Centre (STC) and REVA platforms.
To refine internal commercialisation strategies, MIMOS organised an interactive Pitch Perfect: Inside the Investor’s Mind session on 2 September 2026 with Malaysian Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (MVCA) Chairman, Ng Sai Kit, equipping researchers with key venture investment perspectives.
MIMOS also broadened its international and academic partnerships to bolster technical resilience and workforce development. On 6 August 2026, a Turkish delegation led by Pavo Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Mr. Abdullah Öztürk, met with MIMOS International Venture to discuss semiconductor supply chain integration between Malaysia and Türkiye. On 3 September 2026, MIMOS Academy partnered with Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL) Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Kushairy Abdul Kadir, to advance TVET programmes and STEM talent pipelines. Concluding the series on 9 September 2026, MIMOS welcomed a bilateral delegation led by Brunei’s Minister of Transport and Information Communications, YB Dato’ Seri Setia Awang Haji Mohammed Riza, exploring regional knowledge sharing, technology adoption, and capacity building across Southeast Asia.
